In partnership with Riverside Church, we were recently able to join a free community event hosted by East Staffs Best Start Family Hub. Over three hours, we engaged with 47 children, young people, and adults.
The event brought together local organisations and services to support families in the community. We promoted Warehouse Wednesday and our summer youth club in the park sessions, while also providing fun activities including Xbox gaming, a football cage, and floor games for children and young people to enjoy with their families.

A highlight of the day was the opportunity to connect with parents, listen to their experiences, and share how they can access our youth provision. We also built new relationships with other community providers, exploring ways to work together for the benefit of local young people.

The sunny weather helped create a welcoming atmosphere, with especially strong engagement from younger children. Older children also enjoyed the Xboxes and football cage, and some recognised team members from local schools.

One young person summed up the afternoon perfectly:

“I thought it was just going to be stuff for my 18‑month old brother, but I’ve really enjoyed the activities.”

The event was a valuable time of connection, encouragement, and community partnership, and we’re excited about the possibilities for future collaboration.
