What an amazing time we had celebrating our 40th anniversary weekend in November. We began on Friday by dedicating seven hours to pray for young people, setting the tone for everything that followed. Then came a joyful time of reunion, as past team members, volunteers, and current supporters joined us for afternoon tea, followed by an 80s disco in the evening.
By praying, giving, or volunteering, you can help us open up more opportunities for young people in Burton-on-Trent to grow, thrive, and step into their potential.
It was a deeply special time to pause, give thanks and raise a toast. We honoured all those who have gone before us and poured so much of themselves into this work, and we thanked God for His faithful provision over the past four decades. The celebration also gave us the chance to try something new, with an awesome pop-up choir re-telling the Burton Youth For Christ story through the genre of ‘80s gospel cheese!’
Above all, the weekend reminded us why we do what we do. Every young person we meet has a uniqueness that points to something greater. Every young person has a story that deserves to be heard and acknowledged. Every young person reflects something of God’s image, whether they see it yet or not.
Burton Youth For Christ exists because young people are worth it.
And for me personally, young people are worth getting up for every single morning. It is a privilege to be part of this mission, and I am fuelled to keep going by the One whose steadfast love never ends.
