As we come to the end of another academic and financial year for us, our bank account is nothing more than a miracle! We began the year with a budget that included a £25,000 deficit and are now at a £3,000 deficit. Huge thanks goes to everyone for your ongoing support and prayers.
At our latest Trustee meeting we looked at our annual salary review. Last year we raised salaries by 7% due to the cost of living crisis and to keep our staff above minimum wage. I remember the conversations we had and the concern I felt at having to bring in even more funding! This July we’ve had the same discussion, meaning we need to find a further £6,000 for the year – but God reminded me of Jesus’ question to his friends as they were moaning about a lack of bread. They had not long witnessed the feeding of 5,000 and then 4,000 people from a few loaves. “Do you not remember?” asks Jesus. “How many basketfuls of pieces were left? Do you still not understand?” (Mark 8:18/21). I forget so easily – about how God is with me, how He provides, how He surprises me with His generosity.
I’m telling you all this, firstly to encourage you, but also to permission you to help me remember and to trust in the generous nature of God’s heart. If you see me with a basket in September you’ll know why!
Thank you for your ongoing support. We know we cannot do what we do on our own. Happy summer!
