The new term has already started at quite a pace, with schools, youth clubs, one-to-one sessions, study placements, and plenty of planning for our 40th birthday celebrations. In the midst of all this, what keeps me going is knowing I’m not doing it alone.
By praying, giving, or volunteering, you can help us open up more opportunities for young people in Burton-on-Trent to grow, thrive, and step into their potential.
As Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 12, the body has many different parts, but together they form one whole. In the same way, I’m grateful for being part of the team here at Burton Youth for Christ. We share ideas, learn from one another, and appreciate our differences rather than expecting sameness. Our staff, trustees, and volunteers each bring their own personalities, gifts, experiences, and backgrounds. Together, we collaborate to create opportunities for young people to grow in every area of life.
This spirit of teamwork goes beyond our own team too. It extends into our partnerships with schools, community, and churches, weaving together a wide net of opportunities across these three main areas of our work. Working with others not only strengthens us as an organisation, it multiplies the opportunities we can offer young people. When that happens we see their lives become brighter, fuller, and more colourful.
You can read more about this in our recent blog posts, sharing stories from youth clubs in the park, holiday clubs, and the growing number of school assemblies we’ve been part of.
Ecclesiastes talks about a cord of three strands not being easily broken. We need each other more than ever. I pray we model this together-ness well for our young people. The world feels increasingly divided at the moment and I’m saddened by it. Jesus commands us to love one another, just as He has loved us.
I believe that unity brings divine blessing. (Psalm 133).
So, would you stand with us this coming year?
Our heart is to see more young people discover Jesus’ offer of life in all its fullness, woven into their everyday experiences.
